Learn to Teach Handwriting

Picture
Colleges do not prepare education majors on how to teach handwriting.  Most elementary school teachers were never instructed themselves on how to create this life-long skill in others.  And now, kids are not learning.
  • Learn how to properly grip a pencil so that you can avoid writers cramp.
  • Learn how to instruct connecting lines and curves, and spatial arrangements.
  • Learn how to teach left-handers to write in a rightward manner without smearing the page.

"Research shows that this type of training has a positive measurable effect on reading and behavior." Iris Hatfield, Handwriting specialist with over 40 years of experience in the field and author of New American Cursive Penmanship Program.

The Campaign for Cursive welcomes all schools of penmanship to let us know of any classes or events to prepare teach teachers, homeschool parents, literacy advocates, etc. to teach cursive handwriting.  Will will be happy to post them for you!

Add me to the "Cursive Coach" class notification list!

There are many penmanship programs.   Many of them come with workbooks for students and teachers!  Some even have fantastic software programs to customize your writing lessons or homework. If you are looking for great ideas on how to conduct classrooms with these aids, go to the Penmanship Programs Page.

"Campaign for Cursive" and "Cursive is Cool" and its logo are
