Speaker Tips and Resource Materials

We know how hard it is to come prepared to present materials to large groups.  So, let us help:

Tips for speaking to Groups

Remember, the Teachers cannot change the Curriculum in the schools.  The PARENT Groups can!  All parent-teacher organizations, under Core Curriculum policy, have a voice in the programs administered in their schools to their children.  They can be a united voice to be heard by the school board, the principals, and then the teachers who will actually provide the education.

So…Bring this up to your local Parent Teacher organization!  Tell them that:
  • your children cannot sign their names.  IF cursive was taught, it was not required beyond the third grade.  If the kids do not practice it in subsequent years, how can we expect them to write as adults.
  • Children should not just learn to write in grades 2-3, but should also be required to use it through-out elementary school.
  • Practice writing creates a lifetime skill for organizing memory retention and creating original thought
Cursive writing helps develop:
  • fine motor skills,
  • memory compartmentalization,
  • the ability to think independently,
  • helps students to understand spatial boundaries and appropriate connections with others, both on and off the paper!
  • It is proven that cursive writers are better spellers, better readers, and better problem solvers.

Written Material, Brochures

Our website (under the tabs for RESEARCH, NEWS AND ACTIVITY) has lots of newspaper, professional journal, and peer-review articles printed on the benefits of Cursive handwriting and its impact on children and education.

The links to the articles themselves accompany each one.  You will need permission to reprint directly from the article publisher.  (Even if you don't reprint, its a great resource for you to see what is being written on this subject today!)

Under tab for WHAT CAN I DO you will find lots of ideas that you can implement yourself!

Additionally, we will be happy to send you PDF's of brochures and printable flyers about the Campaign for Cursive, and any of our Contributing or Sponsoring affiliations.

With enough notice, Val may even be able to customize one for your school or area.  We will email you the PDF that you may then have printed to use for your event!

Need advice or help?   We will be glad to talk to you about this.
